Ilona Juraskova (PhD, MPsych Clin) is a Professor in Heath Psychology and the Deputy Director of the Centre for Medical and Evidence-based Decision-making (CeMPED), both within the School of Psychology at the University of Sydney. She is a clinical psychologist by training, with 20 years’ experience in conducting psychosocial research in the chronic health setting, with expertise in psycho-oncology. Since 2006, Professor Juraskova published over 100 articles in international journals and has a career total of over $7 million in competitive research funding. She is internationally recognised for her work in medical communication, and the development and evaluation of evidence-based decision-making interventions for increasing patient and carer involvement in healthcare. Together with her research team, she has developed and evaluated over 20 decision support tools and communication skills training modules for patients, family and clinicians, with many implemented in the clinics across Australia, NZ, the UK, The Netherlands and the USA. Professor Juraskova and her team is passionate about developing innovative and effective ways of providing the best possible care to patients and their families from the time of medical diagnosis, through treatment, survivorship and beyond.
